Confusion About (Un) Occupy Permit (Un) Occupy Albuquerque protesters may still gather in Yale Park at U.N.M after a bit of confusion about the permit there. U.N.M. officials told KOB Eyewitness News 4 Sunday afternoon that the permit would expire at 5 p.m. Sunday. But officials then called us back and said the permit was actually renewed last Thursday until November 13th. Some protesters we talked to Sunday were unaware that the permit had been renewed. Members moved their protest to the South Valley Sunday for the Dia de los Muertos parade. Some say they believe the movement has had big results. They claim pressure from occupy and other groups around the country forced Bank of America and Wells Fargo to drop their plans to charge customers fees for using their debit cards. Protesters also say people have been moving their money from big banks to local credit unions, including Laura Gonzalez Bose. At the South Valley parade she told us, "I went to Bank of America and closed my checking account and my money market account, and transferred the money to the New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union. I also closed our security deposit box. And my husband is also transferring his IRA to the credit union."
