the superintendent for albuquerque public schools will stay for an added year. today the school board voted to renew winston brook's contract. marissa torres joins us live from a-p-s headquarters... marissa officials say this was an easy decision to make? yes antoinette- the board approved the contract in a 7-0 unanimous vote in their meeting this morning here at a-p-s headquarters. winston brooks has been the aps superintendent for about 4 years. not too many changes were made to that agreement. brook's saw a slight change in retirement benefits. instead of being paid in increments, there is now one flat fee. we're told that'll save the district 20-thousand dollars over the next 7 years. as for salary- brook's will continue to make 250-thousand a year. a lot of board members spoke about this. All of our employees have to be minute thumbnail 12:01 pm treated equally and so no teachers got raises, nobody's gotten raises, he's on that same plateau with everybody else. this contract expires in 20-15. as for goals- board president paula maes says they'll continue to work close the achievement gap among students. live at aps headquarters marissa torres kob eyewitness news 4 were heading into the weekend
