Islamist bombs in Algeria

There's been no claim of responsibility for the twin attacks - the most elaborate in years. But experts, local residents and Algerian security sources are blaming the main grouping of Islamist rebels who call themselves the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat. It has refused all peace overtures and last month announced it had joined al Qaeda. For the first time in five years, police stations were the targets of the bombers.
