1,000 birds contaminated by oil
January 24, 2007
Six hundred sea birds are likely to have died as a result of oil leaks from a beached cargo ship. The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds believes more than 1,000 sea birds have been contaminated by oil from the MSC Napoli. The ship was run aground off the Devon coast at the weekend. An operation is underway to clean up of Branscombe beach where large amounts of debris have been left behind after hordes of looters and scavengers descended on the beach.
