Israel raids target Gaza Strip

At least six Palestinians, five of them militants, are reported killed in air strikes and gunbattles. The armed wing of the ruling Hamas Islamist movement says said its gunmen killed an Israeli soldier and wounded others when they attacked Israeli vehicles with anti-tank rockets. The increased violence came after signs of movement on efforts to arrange a prisoner exchange for the release of abducted Israeli soldier, Corporal Gilad Shalit, captured by the Gaza militants, and also two other troops seized by Lebanese Hezbollah guerrillas in July.
