Health officials want smoke-free Europe
January 30, 2007
EU health officials are calling for a smoking ban in public places across the 27-nation bloc. The EU will table draft proposals to further curb smoking in public places and may call on an EU-wide ban. Ireland successfully banned smoking in 2004 with Spain, Belgium, France and England following suit. But critics say a blanket ban is not enough to change European's smoking habits.
