Renault makes a splash in Iran

French automobile manufacturer Renault has had a surprising hit with its low-cost Logan range. First built in Romania in 2004, the budget cars have been so successful that Renault is expanding production sites across the world, including in India, Russia and now Iran where the car is marketed under the brand name Tondar-90 -- "Thunder" in Farsi. Renault's 300-million-dollar venture with Irankhodro, the country's largest carmaker, and Saipa, is the largest investment by a French motor manufacturer in Iran since the Islamic revolution in 1979. The first Tondar-90 was sold in June and Renault aims to build some 300,000 units a year. A voiced report
