Beckham makes U.S. debut

LA Galaxy's record signing played the last 20 minutes of the side's away tie at DC United. Beckham, who's been sidelined since last month with an ankle injury, was unable to prevent his new club from losing 1-0. Beckham's name on the teamsheet guaranteed the 46,000-seat RFK stadium was a sell-out. But U.S. fans have yet to see the silky skills that made him one of the best footballers of his generation. And for most Americans, the 32-year-old ex-England captain is more famous for his activities off the pitch than those on it.
