The presidents of Pakistan and Afghanistan vow to fight terrorism together and prevent extremists from operating in their countries. Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf told a Kabul gathering of some 700 tribal leaders from both countries that Pakistan and Afghanistan are confronted with a "particularly dark form" of extremism while the rest of the world races forward with economic development. He'd declined to attend the opening of the much-touted "jirga" at the last minute citing security concerns. He changed his mind after phone calls from Afghan President Hamid Karzai and the U.S. Secretary of State.
