Rescuers race to find Peru quake suvivors

August 18, 2007

Rescuers in Peru are sifting through rubble in search of victims of an earthquake that killed 500 people as new aftershocks shook the area, spreading fear among survivors. The stomach-turning stench of death hung over Pisco and other towns in southern Peru as more bodies were pulled from the ruins. Rescue teams including Spanish specialists with sniffer dogs combed through the wreckage while desperate survivors looted food trucks and tempers frayed over the slow arrival of emergency aid two days after Wednesday's massive quake. A voiced report.
