Mass turkey cull in UK
February 05, 2007
Thousands of turkeys are culled in Britain as the deadly bird flu virus breaks out - Brussels approves UK response. British Environment Secretary David Miliband says the turkey cull is proceeding well and a European Commission spokesman says the commission is happy with the measures Britain is taking to try to stop bird flu from spreading. But some residents have expressed concern at the way the dead birds have been transported in open trucks on their way to be incinerated.
