Nepal peace pact
November 09, 2006
The deal calls for Maoist rebels to put their weapons under U.N. supervision in a move that will allow the Nepalese guerrillas to join an interim government within a month. The midnight pact between Nepal's multi-party government and the rebels raises hopes for lasting peace in the Himalayan kingdom ravaged by years of conflict that has left thousands dead.
