Iran 'reaches nuclear target'

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made the announcement on state media. His claim has met with scepticism at the UN. Western powers accuse Iran of seeking to build nuclear weapons - a charge Iran denies. There's particular concern about progress in Tehran's uranium enrichment programme because the process can be used to make fuel for power plants or material for bombs. Iran says it wants to master nuclear technology so it can generate electricity and save its oil and gas resources for exports.
