Olympic inspiration from Shropshire
September 04, 2007
The small English town of Much Wenlock claims a role in the founding of the modern Olympics. A local doctor had his own version of the Olympics from 1850, and his vision was passed on to a young Baron Pierre de Coubertin who visited the Shropshire village and then founded the modern Games a number of years later in 1896.
