India's rickshaws battle traffic and the law

Kolkata's estimated 18,000 rickshaw pullers are stubbornly defying a government ban on their trade imposed last year. Labeled as inhumane and degrading, the communist state government wants to put an end to this centuries-old tradition. But with no other job prospects, the rickshaw pullers have vowed to continue plying through the streets of the bustling Indian city.
