Opponents of the design say the building, which will be nearly as tall as France's Eiffel Tower, will destroy St Petersburg's beauty and charm. Last month, the U.N.'s cultural body, UNESCO warned that St Petersburg could be stripped of its status as a World Heritage Site if the 300 metre tower goes ahead.
