'Red List' of threatened species published
September 12, 2007
Gorillas, China's baiji dolphin, Asian vultures and Pacific corals have joined the list of species heading to extinction, according to the World Conservation Union (IUCN). Its annual Red List of biodiversity has added new numbers to its endangered list, and warned that only concerted action could stave off a "global extinction crisis." The list, which now covers data on more than 41,000 animals and plants at risk, was released in Paris and Washington on Wednesday. An AFPTV report looks at its findings.
