UN-CLIMATE
January 29, 2007
The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which groups the world's top climate experts, is meeting in Paris at a major summit. On Friday they will release a report, the first in more than five years, which is expected to be a bleak assessment that affirms the negative human impact on the environment through global warming. The last IPCC report, in 2001, declared that carbon pollution from burning oil, gas and coal had helped drive atmospheric levels of CO2 to their highest in 420,000 years. (c) 2006 AFP
