Japan is home to the most rapidly ageing population in the world. One in five Japanese are 65 or older now, and by mid-century that will be nearly a third as Japan's population contracts to 90 million.Japanese women top the rankings for longevity at nearly 86 years, while the men are no spring chickens with an average of 79.But many are living even longer because of plenty of exercise and a healthy diet.
