Israel closes West Bank

This year Yom Kippur - the Jewish Day of Atonement - coincides with the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. The Israeli army turned back thousands of Palestinians who'd wanted to worship at the al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, one of Islam's holiest shrines. Security across the Jewish state is at its highest after the arrest of Palestinian militants whom the army said were planning a suicide bombing in Israel during the holiday weekend.
