War criminal jailed for 20 years

Mile Mzksic was found guilty by the U.N. war crimes tribunal in connection with the massacre of hundreds of people in the town in 1991. Another officer was sentenced to five years on torture charges while a third man was cleared. The Prosecution had claimed all three were responsible for the killing of at least 264 people who had sought shelter in Vukovar's hospital during the Balkan wars.
