Darfur crisis dominates Africa-France summit

Sudan's regime has continued to refuse to let UN peacekeeping troops into Darfur, at an Africa-France summit that was also President Jacques Chirac's farewell to Africa. Strife in Sudan's western region, which has killed 200,000 people, dominated a two-day gathering in Cannes of more than 30 African leaders, worried at the humanitarian crisis and a spillover of conflict to neighbouring countries.
