Indonesians urged to flee volcano
October 17, 2007
Thousands are evacuated from their homes to shelters as Indonesia's Mount Kelud threatens to erupt. Mount Kelud is located 90 kilometres (56 miles) from the country's second-largest city, Surabaya. 100,000 people who live within 10 kilometres (6 miles) on the volcano have had to leave their homes. Indonesia, which sits on a belt of intense seismic activity known as the Pacific Ring of Fire, has had a series of major volcanic eruptions over the centuries.
