Russia EU energy agreement

The agreement comes ahead of a Russia-EU summit in Portugal where energy issues are expected to be on the agenda.The EU is heavily dependent on energy from Russia, where Kremlin leaders see oil and gas as new instruments of geopolitical clout. Russian energy supplies have been disrupted in the past by pricing disputes between Russia and its neighbours. While European leaders say they want to find alternative sources of energy, EU forecasts show that energy dependence on Russia will actually increase over the next decade.Joanna Partridge reports for Reuters
