Dow flat despite Merrill woes

U.S. blue chip stocks closed Wednesday's session flat after a big drop. News of a huge writedown from Merrill Lynch rattled the markets, but speculation that the Federal Reserve may cut the discount rate lifted stocks in the afternoon. Bobbi Rebell reports.
