Turkish-Kurdish violence in Germany

As Turkey masses troops and considers a large-scale incursion into mainly Kurdish northern Iraq to crush the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), feelings ran high in Germany, which is home to the world's largest Turkish migrant community. A peaceful rally on Sunday in the multicultural district of Kreuzberg in Berlin, intended to promote unity between Turks and Kurds, turned violent. Representatives from the Turkish and Kurdish communities in Germany say they want to defuse tensions, but emotions are strong in a country where many of their young people face rejection and identity issues.
