The taxman is just around the corner this time of year. What better time to talk about budgets? Of course, the budget I'm referring to is the kind found on a newsroom whiteboard, not an Excel sheet. Even in our whiz-bang World of Tomorrow - where deadlines come once an hour instead of once a day - the old-school process of creating a list of what content you expect on your site in a given day can add the tiniest bit of organization to the chaos of running a 24-7 content source. No matter what may happen as the day goes on, my team always stops to take a few minutes and plan out how we’re going to tackle the stories we expect to see. It helps get us through the slow times and move smoothly through breaking news events, too. Take a minute and budget out your content. The stress you alleviate may be your own.
