VOXANT:

Is it possible to bring back the HTML code, the code that started with “< div id” ?

When I started with Voxant there were two choices of code, Javascript and HTML. Since you removed the HTML I am unable to embed the players in my forums anymore as they simply won’t accept Javascript.

Players that were embedded with the old code still work, it’s just that I can’t embed any new ones. I’m sure others must have had similar problems.

Is there any reason why we can’t have the choice of both codes again?

Hello, Martin

I will like for Voxant to have different code lay-outs like one other network that I use. They offer 5 formats that publishers can use to embed content. They offer hyperlink, Embed object classid=, HTML code, Java script, and Rss Url. And “yes” just like you I am having a lot of scripts not working properly. I did not have theses problems using the old format. I currently use blogspot.com and I have a lot of other scripts running in my blogs and I think this script is messing up the other scripts that I use. It is just not good to have many scripts on a web page. So I would like for Voxant to take a look into this matter. They need to offer their publishers different ways to embed content so that it will be easier on everybody. Because some blogs, websites perform different tasks on the web. Some just perform better without using javascripts because they cause “slow” page loading. Lets just hope that Voxant take in consideration by offering their publishers different ways to embed content like the formats I talked about above.

Any comments from Voxant on this one?

Since losing that code I’ve been hugely restricted as to where I can show the players.

It was so much better when we had the choice of two different codes.

I would be interested in that as well. Any chance for it’s return. Can’t use javascript for this.

I agree. I am also having difficulty getting the workaround to work

Wow there used to be embed codes.. I was going to suggest that as a “new” option. I have to agree there is a real use for the ability to use an embed statement to include these videos.

VOXANT STAFF:

I’m going to ‘bump’ this topic one last time before I leave the program altogether as nobody has ever answered my original post.

Although I can use the javascript code code on my web pages, I can’t use it in my forums. I’m not worried about the earnings, I’m just interested in the functionality.

WHY have you restricted the places that feeds can be used by removing the embed code?

Joel in VA (34 posts)

Just to place this on the forum…
I’m working with Xanga.com who has 40 million plus members, and they have on their list of “things to do”...javascript support.
When we had the option for javascript or embed codes…use on Xanga was great.

Now, we’ve lost a potential 40 million viewers of newsroom content.

Would highly recommend bringing the option of flash video embed codes to newsroom, so as to recoup potential lost viewers/readers.

Thanks for your time.

They seem to be ignoring this thread Joel.

Hey guys it’s Angela from Voxant
Sorry for not responding – I’ve been hoping to have good news on this front and I may have some… I’ve been talking to the development team with a little help from Joel and we’ve got them at least thinking about bringing the old code back. We aren’t ignoring the request, just trying to figure out how to prioritize. I’ll post back here if I hear anything firm. But we are aware of the situation.

Martin in Lo... (118 posts)

Thanks for that. At least it is being considered.

If you look at the other posts in this thread, there is 100% following for bringing back the embed code, so I’m not the only one here.

From a personal point of view I haven’t added a new feed since the old code vanished a few months ago.

sure thing. stay tuned. we’ll post back here with any news on this topic, everyone.

It’s nice to see the auto play back guys, all we need now is get this embed code back and I’m back in business.

There are just so many places where javascript just isn’t accepted.

Any news?

Hey Martin,

Seems that our paths cross several times via voxant.
I like your forum site…could you take a look at mine and use one of the forms on it to contact me?

I have some questions about how you set up your site.

Here’s my site:

http://www.brainfriednetwork.com

Thanks.

Hi Joel.

You’ve got me beat there. I visited your site but couldn’t see any contact forms. Did I miss something?

I presume by “your forum site” you mean my Voxant site?

http://www.idlerslounge.net

That was only set up as a Voxant test site and I haven’t advertised it anywhere. However, there is a forum there and you can contact me (Administrator) through that if you wish.

Alternatively, you can e-mail me direct at webmaster@idlerslounge.net

Regards.
Martin.

Hey Martin,

Yes there are forms, and they are in the About the BFN page.
Thanks for the e-mail address, I’ll contact you that way with my questions…thanks.

Joel.

Well, another month has passed so I thought I’d ask if there’s been any movement on bringing back the HTML code?

I haven’t posted a single new video since it was removed about four months ago.

Jenny in Uni... (78 posts)

We expect this option to be in place sometime this summer (after the 1st of August). We’ll keep you updated here. Thanks, guys!

The only way I’ve found around the HTML issue at this moment is to create a web page with the news article…and THEN when needing the article in a blog post…use <iframe> web page </iframe>...

It’s extremely time consuming and annoying, but until the HTML thing is resolved at Voxant…that will work.

see the following page as an example: http://weblog.xanga.com/edlives/664250682/would-you-approve.html#

Of course, this means that people CAN’T embed whatever you posted still…but at least it would allow the ability to get the article onto web pages that don’t allow javascript.

It would only be to the benefit of VOXANT to do this seeing how most sites are now wordpress blogs.

You can make the time or be lost behind the times.
