I was using the Newsroom and enjoying it and then suddenly it didn’t wotk and I got an error message each time I tried to post a story. It happens with IE which a lot of people use. I asked about it in the “Contact Us” link and they said they were working on the javascript to correct the error. This was a couple of weeks ago and it still doesn’t work at all.

Will this ever be fixed or am I just not able to use this service anymore?

stop crying!
The newsroom is an outstanding solution and will prevent countless hours or surfing.
I,m enjoying this site and it’s features very much…..some have forgotten that it was not very long ago that you had to rely on the newspaper boy.
Keep up the good work newsroom team. Outstanding!

Nice response. It’s not a matter of “stop crying” it’s a matter of “fix this thing so it will work with IE”. It is ridiculous that a major company can have a service that does not work with Internet Explorer and just leaves it that way. Come on Newsroom, fix the code so it will WORK!

Why bother to have a forum if you won’t respond to a valid problem like this? Helllooooo?!

Try sending an email to support, as I have done so and received a full response within 12 hrs.

regards your IE problem, move over to firefox browser(free) it beats IE hands down and doesn’t have the security issues.(just a thought).

Regards the forum (lack of response)..you can see from the number of post’s that the company is a new start-up..give them a little slack…the free service is great.

Give it time it will get better..rest assured.

This could be an “Absolute AWESOME” service! Although, it can not be ignored that IE has 96% (according to my Google Analytics)of my users. Sure, I could put up a link to the free Fire Fox browser of which maybe 2% would take advantage of but I would still be leaving out 94% of my users. I’m sure these guys didn’t make it this far without understanding this.

I hope the fix comes soon,

David

Just after posting that last comment it occured to me, it works just fine on The News Rooms site in the IE browser. Might this just be user trouble implementing the code? If so, can someone help?

Thanks,

David

“regards your IE problem, move over to firefox browser(free) it beats IE hands down and doesn’t have the security issues.(just a thought).”

Another less that helpful response. I have a code that does not work on my site with IE so you suggest that I switch browsers? What about the users on my site? Shoild I ask that all of them switch browsers also? I think it might be better if thenewsroom fixed the code so that it works with the most popular browser, just a thought.

probably what you’re experiencing is a line56 error which is a constant problem … on that affects primarily IE … but not all installs of IE.

It is really an Adobe flash problem and comes when you have too many flash content pieces on a single page.

It really has slowed me in my use of the newsroom down.

For the record though, I know it exists because I’ve had several members post me their laments about not being able to see my front page and the lengthy time it takes even before the error shows. I personally use regularly 5 different PC’s all with IE and ONLY ONE consistently shows this error. (a P IV 3.2 ghz with 1 gig RAM Viao) ... another older viao doesn’t, my NOW CRASHED DON’T EVER BUY A HP LAPTOP THEY SUCK <—OPINION, MY NEW Qosmio that replaced the HP POS, the older viao PIV 2.4gh 512 RAM laptop, and the two toughbooks all render the page fine.

I brought the issue up to Thenewsroom folks a while back but never heard anything back presumably because it is a flash problem (and I use a fair amount of flash other than NR stuff)and so Adobe’s problem.

You’ll probably get more if you look up ‘error on line 56” on google …

For all of those of you that are still experiencing the

“TheNewsRoom player could not
detect the origin of this page
and cannot play the news story.
More details…”

error message when viewing Voxant’s Newsroom vontent in IE7 there is a fix.

Right now the fix is only available for Feeds and Playlists and will become fully deployed soon. The fix is a new one line peice of Javascript code. When you are building or editing a Feed or Playlist look in the box “Embed code” and copy and paste the code from here. You of course will have to have signed in before this.
